We are getting through the last few weeks of winter but we still are relying on our furnaces, especially during frigid nights. Not much is worse than turning in at night just to realize your furnace won’t kick on. If this happens to you, here are some things you can check yourself before calling Service Experts Heating, Air Conditioning & Plumbing.
Check Air Filters
You should change standard air filters monthly. If you fail to do so, they can end up clogged, blocking air flow and resulting in a furnace malfunction.
Check Your Thermostat
Start by turning the thermostat up a few degrees to get the furnace to turn on. If the actual room temperature is higher than the thermostat, the furnace won’t run. Also, make sure the system switch is on “heat” or “auto.”
Check the Power
It may seem ridiculous, but verify the power switch next to the heating system is “On.” Even gas heating equipment uses electricity so verify the breaker has not tripped and that the power switch was not accidently moved to the “Off” position.
If you inspect all these things and your heating system will still not start up, give Service Experts Heating, Air Conditioning & Plumbing a call at 866-397-3787 and we’ll come out and get you heating again as soon as possible.
